Malta Football Players Association and Floriana FC will face each other tomorrow in a direct clash to decide the winner of the VMFA Premier League on the final day of the season.
At present, MFPA lead the standings with 34 points, just one point ahead of Floriana who sit on 33.
Last week saw the penultimate round of the championship, with MFPA confirming their strong form after an impressive 10-5 victory over Luxol St Andrew’s. Jonathan Bondin scored a hat-trick, while Aleksandar Ribic and Mark Zammit each netted a brace. Thomas Paris, George Frendo and Stanimir Miloskovic also got on the scoresheet for the winners.
Luxol replied with a brace from Dylan Musu and goals by Glenn Bonello, Gary Inguanez and Tyron Borg. The referee for this match was Gordon Barbara.
Floriana were awarded a 3-0 walkover against Birkirkara St Helen’s. In another match, Hibernians Veterans secured an important 6-4 win over Gżira Veterans. Luke Satariano and Beppe Antignolo both scored hat-tricks for the Paolites, while Kevin Sammut replied with a hat-trick for Gżira, with Sebastian Nayar adding another goal. Referee Paul Apap officiated this match.
