MFPA maintain consistency in Malta Veterans Premier League

The Malta Football Players Association (MFPA) continued their impressive run in the Malta Veterans Premier League, recording their fourth consecutive win of the season with a 5-3 victory over Rabat Veterans.

It was not an easy game for MFPA, as the Rabat side showed strong determination, but they were unable to take any points from the match. George Frendo scored twice for MFPA, while Thomas Paris, Alexander Ribic, and Jonathan Bondin also found the net. For Rabat, Andre Scicluna scored a brace and Andy Mangion added another. The match was refereed by Paul Apap.

In second place, Gżira United were held to a 3-3 draw against Hibernians. Gżira were missing several key players, while the Pawlisti capitalised on their opportunities, scoring three goals. Kevin Sammut stood out for Gżira with a hat-trick, while Hibernians’ goals came from a brace by Beppe Antignolo and one from Glanville Goodlip. The referee was Paul Apap.

Gżira United win direct clash against Floriana

In the most anticipated match from the fourth round of the Malta Veterans Premier League, champions Gżira United defeated Floriana 4–2 to move up to nine points in the standings.

The first half was balanced, although in the second half-hour of play the Maroons took full control of the match and secured the three points.

Kurt Magro scored a personal brace, while Kevin Sammut and Jonathan Pearson added further goals for the Maroons.
Gilbert Scerri and William Camenzuli were on target for Floriana.

Meanwhile, MFPA maintained their place at the top of the table following a 10–4 win over Hibernians.

Birkirkara St Helen’s show remarkable resilience to earn first point of the season

Birkirkara St Helen’s displayed impressive resilience as they held league leaders MFPA to a 3–3 draw. Despite MFPA leading on several occasions throughout the match, the Stripes refused to give up and ultimately secured their first point of the season.

Christian Caruana, Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza, and Gilbert Camilleri found the net for Birkirkara St Helen’s, while Mark Zammit, Valdo Alinho, and Julian Galea scored for MFPA. The match was officiated by referee Alper Can.

Meanwhile, after the latest results from Matchday 3 of the Malta Veterans Premier League, four teams now sit on six points, just one point behind MFPA.

Hibernians registered a strong 8–6 victory against Rabat Veterans. Brothers Johnny and Christopher Camilleri scored five goals between them, with Adrian Lanzon, Beppe Antignolo, and David Azzopardi also adding their names to the scoresheet. Rabat stayed in contention thanks to four goals from Adam Smeir, as well as strikes from Robert Perkins and Luke Portelli. The referee for this match was Alper Can.

Floriana recorded their second win of the season with a 6–2 triumph over Luxol St Andrew’s. William Camenzuli scored a brace, while Manolito Micallef, Gilbert Scerri, Ryan Darmanin, and Gordon Failla completed the scoring for the Greens. Glenn Bonello netted twice for Luxol. Champions Gżira United defeated by MFPA

Champions Gżira United were beaten 6–3 by MFPA on the opening day of the Veterans Malta FA Premier League.
It was a tightly contested match in which, despite MFPA leading for most of the game, the Maroons continually responded before eventually having to give way towards the end.

The Malta Football Players Association had Jonathan Bondin scoring a hat-trick, while Julian Galea, Stephen Wellman, and Manuel Sevasta added to the tally.
Gżira United found the net thanks to a hat-trick from Kevin Sammut.

In another highly entertaining match, Hibernians started their season in the best possible way with a 6–5 victory over Floriana.
It was a match where both defences struggled, but in the end Hibernians secured the three crucial points.

MFPA win the David Cluett Memorial Cup

The Malta Football Players Association (MFPA) won the David Cluett Memorial Cup after defeating Floriana 16–15 in a penalty shootout.

It was a very balanced encounter, with both sides alternating the lead throughout the match. After 60 minutes of play, the score was level at 3–3.
Stanimir Miloskovic scored twice for the MFPA, while Jonathan Bondin added another goal for his team.
For Floriana, Manolito Micallef also netted a brace, with Bojan Kaljevic among the scorers as well.

After no fewer than 32 penalties were taken, MFPA eventually emerged victorious with an overall score of 16–15.
At the end of the match, Carlos Cluett, brother of the late but never forgotten David Cluett, presented the trophy to MFPA captain Carlo Mamo.

Floriana and MFPA will face off in the final of the David Cluett Memorial Cup after both teams secured victories in their semifinal matches.

Floriana overcame Luxol St Andrew’s Veterans 5-3 in a hard-fought contest. Bojan Kaljevic scored twice for the Furjani side, while Ryan Camilleri, Christian Cassar, and Manolito Micallef added further goals. Luxol’s goals came from Nenad Stankic, Emerson Amaira, and Matthew Schembri. The match was refereed by Gjorgji Bitri.

MFPA dominated Birkirkara St Helen’s, winning 10-3. Stanimir Miloskovic scored a hat-trick, while Jonathan Bondin, Michael Galea, and Julian Galea each netted twice. Mark Zammit sealed the decisive win for the Malta Football Players Association. Birkirkara’s goals came from Federico Marine Tejada, who scored twice, and Daniel Scerri. Gjorgji Bitri also officiated this match.

The final of the David Cluett Memorial Cup will take place next Wednesday at the Dorotej Ground in Ħaż-Żebbuġ, kicking off at 7:30 pm.

Floriana finished top of the group despite a thrilling 4–4 draw against Birkirkara St Helen’s. It was a hard-fought match, with Birkirkara showing great determination to take something from the game. Manolito Micallef and Bojan Kaljevic each scored twice for Floriana, while Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza also netted a brace for Birkirkara, supported by goals from Mark Gauci and Firas Aboulezz.

The Malta Veterans National Team secured an emphatic 11–2 victory in an international friendly match against MNK Bol Brac, played at the Mellieħa Ground.

The Maltese side dominated from start to finish, leading 6–0 by half-time. Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza was the standout performer with four goals, while Ian Zammit and Man of the Match Adam Smeir both netted twice. Daniel Cremona, Kevin Sammut, and Gareth Magri also found the target for the team led by coach Joe Micallef.
