Floriana stun league leaders MFPA

In a high-scoring clash in the seventh round of the Malta Veterans Premier League, Floriana overcame MFPA with an emphatic 11-5 victory, narrowing the gap at the top of the table. The Greens came out motivated and quickly established a strong lead, maintaining control despite efforts from MFPA to respond.

Bojan Kaljevic, Diego Fernando Pereira, and Firas Aboulezz were the standout performers for Floriana, each scoring a hat-trick, while Ryan Darmanin added a brace to secure the commanding win. MFPA managed to score through Stanimir Miloskovic, Mark Zammit, Alexander Marinkovic, Alexander Ribic, and Carlo Mamo, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.

Despite the setback, MFPA remain at the top of the league standings with 16 points, though Floriana have closed in and now sit just one point behind. The match was officiated by Paul Apap.

Gżira United Veterans delivered a thrilling 6-5 win against Luxol St Andrew’s, moving closer to the top teams in the standings. The contest was tightly fought, with Luxol St Andrew’s putting up strong resistance, but Gżira United managed to edge out their opponents in a competitive encounter.

Kurt Magro led the scoring for Gżira with a hat-trick, complemented by goals from Sebastian Nayar, Romeu Romao, and Ian Zammit. For Luxol St Andrew’s, Emerson Amaira scored twice, with Gary Inguanez, Karl Sacco, and Glenn Bonello also on the scoresheet. Igor Kankaras officiated the match.

MFPA strengthen their position at the top of the table

MFPA strengthened their position at the top of the Malta Veterans Premier League standings after defeating Luxol St Andrew’s 13–5.

The Malta Football Players Association side delivered a strong performance throughout the match, while their opponents were somewhat affected by the absence of a number of players.

Alexander Ribic stood out for MFPA after scoring seven goals, while Stanimir Miloskovic added four more. Jonathan Bondin and Emanuel Sevasta also got on the scoresheet for the winning side.

Luxol St Andrew’s goals came through a hat-trick by Dylan Musu and two goals by Karl Sacco.

Meanwhile, Rabat Veterans earned their first three points of the season following an 8–4 victory over reigning champions Gżira United.

The Rabat side showed great determination to get something from the match, with Gżira appearing somewhat unsettled by their opponents’ quick attacking play.

Floriana Veterans move up to second place after win over Birkirkara St Helen’s

Floriana climbed to second place in the standings after defeating Birkirkara St Helen’s 10–6. As the scoreline suggests, it was an open and fast-paced encounter with plenty of goals, with the Greens ultimately coming out on top.

Bojan Kaljevic continued his fine form by scoring four goals, while Diego Fernando Pereira added a hat-trick. Gilbert Scerri netted twice and Dylan Grima also found the back of the net for the Floriana veterans.

Birkirkara remained competitive throughout the match thanks to a hat-trick from Federico Marine, as well as goals by Herbert Spiteri, Jonathan Xerri and Daniel Scerri.

Hibernians secured their third win of the season with a 6–3 victory over Żurrieq Wolves. This result lifted the Paolites to ten points in the standings, level with Gżira United.

Daniel Fodermayer scored a hat-trick for the Paola-based side, Luke Satariano struck twice, and Ilia Nazarov added another goal.

Żurrieq’s goals came from Kevin Vella, Alex Muscat and Mario Camilleri.

MFPA maintain consistency in Malta Veterans Premier League

The Malta Football Players Association (MFPA) continued their impressive run in the Malta Veterans Premier League, recording their fourth consecutive win of the season with a 5-3 victory over Rabat Veterans.

It was not an easy game for MFPA, as the Rabat side showed strong determination, but they were unable to take any points from the match. George Frendo scored twice for MFPA, while Thomas Paris, Alexander Ribic, and Jonathan Bondin also found the net. For Rabat, Andre Scicluna scored a brace and Andy Mangion added another. The match was refereed by Paul Apap.

In second place, Gżira United were held to a 3-3 draw against Hibernians. Gżira were missing several key players, while the Pawlisti capitalised on their opportunities, scoring three goals. In the most anticipated match from the fourth round of the Malta Veterans Premier League, champions Gżira United defeated Floriana 4–2 to move up to nine points in the standings.

The first half was balanced, although in the second half-hour of play the Maroons took full control of the match and secured the three points.

Champions Gżira United were beaten 6–3 by MFPA on the opening day of the Veterans Malta FA Premier League.
It was a tightly contested match in which, despite MFPA leading for most of the game, the Maroons continually responded before eventually having to give way towards the end.

MFPA win the David Cluett Memorial Cup

The Malta Football Players Association (MFPA) won the David Cluett Memorial Cup after defeating Floriana 16–15 in a penalty shootout.

It was a very balanced encounter, with both sides alternating the lead throughout the match. After 60 minutes of play, the score was level at 3–3.
Stanimir Miloskovic scored twice for the MFPA, while Jonathan Bondin added another goal for his team.
For Floriana, Manolito Micallef also netted a brace, with Bojan Kaljevic among the scorers as well.

After no fewer than 32 penalties were taken, MFPA eventually emerged victorious with an overall score of 16–15.
At the end of the match, Carlos Cluett, brother of the late but never forgotten David Cluett, presented the trophy to MFPA captain Carlo Mamo.

Floriana and MFPA will face off in the final of the David Cluett Memorial Cup after both teams secured victories in their semifinal matches.

Floriana overcame Luxol St Andrew’s Veterans 5-3 in a hard-fought contest. Bojan Kaljevic scored twice for the Furjani side, while Ryan Camilleri, Christian Cassar, and Manolito Micallef added further goals. Luxol’s goals came from Nenad Stankic, Emerson Amaira, and Matthew Schembri. The match was refereed by Gjorgji Bitri.

MFPA dominated Birkirkara St Helen’s, winning 10-3. Stanimir Miloskovic scored a hat-trick, while Jonathan Bondin, Michael Galea, and Julian Galea each netted twice. Mark Zammit sealed the decisive win for the Malta Football Players Association. Birkirkara’s goals came from Federico Marine Tejada, who scored twice, and Daniel Scerri. The final of the David Cluett Memorial Cup will take place next Wednesday at the Dorotej Ground in Ħaż-Żebbuġ, kicking off at 7:30 pm.
