Floriana Veterans win the VMFA Malta Premier League

Floriana are the winners of the VMFA Malta Premier League after defeating MFPA 5-0 in the decisive match played yesterday at the Mediterranean College of Sport in Birkirkara.

The Greens were determined to win the title after narrowly missing out last season, when they conceded the championship to Gżira United. This time, they were highly motivated and gave little chance to their opponents from the Malta Football Players Association to play their usual game.

Manolito Micallef put Floriana ahead with a header, and before the end of the first half, Bojan Kaljevic and Micallef again added more goals for their team.

In the second half, Kaljevic completed his brace, while substitute Ryan Darmanin sealed the match with the fifth goal to make it 5-0.

After the match, Veterans Malta Football Association president Malcolm Camilleri presented the trophy to Floriana captain Manolito Micallef.

The referee was Lorry Sammut.

In another match from the same league, Rabat Veterans ended their campaign in style with a 12-0 victory over Żurrieq Wolves.

Adam Smeir delivered an outstanding performance, scoring no fewer than nine goals, while Andre Scicluna added a hat-trick.

Rabat thus finished in fourth place in the league with 19 points.
