MFPA extend lead at the top

MFPA extended their lead at the top of the VMFA Cisk Championship Pool table after beating Birkirkara St Helen’s 7-3.

The Malta Football Players Association were in a class of their own as after scoring two goals in the first half, they added five more in the second one with their opponents who were a disappointing lot.

Jonathan Bondin, Alexander Ribic and Roderick Bajada scored two goals each while Mark Barbara also added his name among the scorers.

Birkirkara St Helen’s reduced the scoring margin three times through Firas Aboulezz, Daniel Cremona and Nikolay Filipov.

Gzira United Veterans achieved a massive 12-2 victory against Hibernians.

As the score clearly indicates, the Maroons dominated this game and managed to score 12 goals with the main protagonist being Ian Zammit who netted six goals.

Arthur Oyama scored four more goals while Trevor Cilia put his name twice in the scorers list.

Alex Gambin and Alan Tabone were the scorers for Hibernians.

Meanwhile, Rabat Veterans reached Luxol in the VMFA Challenge League table after beating them 9-6 in the direct match at the top of the table.

Adam Smeir and Ibrahim Tarik helped themselves with a hat-trick with Josef Caruana, Dylan Falzon and Timmy Zammit adding more goals for the Magpies.

Beppe Antignolo scored a hat-trick while Michael Borg Olivier had a personal brace while Michael Galea was also on target.
