VMFA League 2021/2022 to Kick off

The Veterans Malta Football Association Kia Premier League is back, with the first round of matches to be played on 6 and 7 October.

Following a successful campaign with the title decided on the very last day of the season, we now look forward to what promises to be another nail-biting league showcasing the best veteran players in Malta.

The two-round league will be contested by nine teams, with the MFPA selection defending its title.  They will face stiff competition from last season’s contenders Hamrun Spartans Veterans and Birkirkara St Helen Veterans, together with other confirmed participants Luxol St Andrews Veterans and Rabat Serkin.

New teams Zurrieq Wolves, Gzira United Veterans, Pieta Hotspurs Veterans and Vallett Veterans have also joined the fray to ensure competition of the highest level in what is Malta’s top Veterans’ league.

The first match-day will see Birkirkara St Helen facing MFPA and Valletta FC Veterans playing Rabat Serkin at the St Dorothy School Ground in Zebbug on 6 October, while Hamrun Spartans Veterans will play Gzira United Veterans and Pieta Hotspurs Veterans face Zurrieq Wolves on 7 October at Attard FC Ground.

Valletta Veterans joins VMFA League

Valletta Veterans have become the latest new team to register for the VMFA’s upcoming season and join the ever growing Malta Veterans family.

Champions MFPA have also confirmed their participation and will thus be defending the Veterans Kia Premier League title clinched on the very last day of the season.

As we welcome newcomers Valletta and champions MFPA, we look forward to what promises to be another highly competitive season.

VMFA Kia League to be decided on Thursday.

The VMFA Kia League has reached a very interesting climax, with three teams still vying to claim the title.

All three teams will be involved in the last two games of the season which will be played at the same time.

Hamrun Spartans lead the standings on 29 points, followed by Malta Football Players Association (MFPA) on 28 and Birkirkara St Helen on 27.

Hamrun’s destiny is in their own hands, and they will be crowned champions should they beat Birkirkara St Helen at the St. Dorothy School Football Ground in Zebbug.

On their part, Birkirkara need to beat the Spartans and hope Rabat Serkin avoid defeat in the day’s other encounter at the Attard Football Ground.

Rabat will be facing second-placed MFPA who need a win coupled with a Hamrun defeat against Birkirkara to end their commitments at the top of the table.

Both games will kick off at 8.40pm.

This was by no means an easy season, but the VMFA’s efforts to finish the league have paid off with this exciting finale.  We thank all member-clubs for their participation in this season’s competitions, and wish all title contenders the best of luck.
