Floriana FC won the BOV VMFA Trophy to complete a veterans football double after previously securing the league title. In the final, played at the St Dorothy’s Grounds in Żebbuġ, Floriana defeated Hibernians FC 8-3.
The first half was closely contested. Floriana opened the scoring, but Hibernians responded with two goals to take the lead before Floriana equalised to make it 2-2 by half-time.
In the second half, Floriana produced a dominant display, scoring six more goals before Hibernians managed to reduce the deficit late on.

Firas Aboulezz inspired his side with four goals, while Diego Fernando Pereira added a brace. Gilbert Scerri and Manolito Micallef also found the net for Floriana.
Hibernians’ goals were scored by Beppe Antignolo, Mark Abbosh and Daniel Fodermayer.
At the end of the match, Veterans Malta Football Association president Malcolm Camilleri presented the trophy to Floriana Veterans captain Manolito Micallef.
The referee was Paul Apap.
Floriana now have the opportunity to complete a treble this season when they face Gżira United FC in the Super Cup next Wednesday.
