Gżira United Veterans won the VMFA Super Cup when they beat the Malta Football Players Association 5-4 at the Mediterranean College of Sports in Birkirkara.
It was a very interesting game with the Maroons dominating the first half and even leading 4-1. Despite everything, the MFPA reacted and managed to equalize the score at 4-4 although in the end it was Gzira who came out victorious with a dramatic goal for a final score of 5-4.

The hero for the Maroons was Ian Zammit who netted a brace with Daniel Mariano Bueno, Kevin Sammut and new signing Sebastian Nayar sealing the score for their team.
Gareth Sciberras, Mark Barbara, Alexandar Ribic and Manuel Sevasta kept MFPA in the game.
At the end of the match, the celebrations could begin as Timmy Zammit, a representative from the company KT Services presented the cup to Gzira United captain Jonathan Pearson.
This was the third consecutive time that the Maroons won this cup.
Referee was Lorry Sammut.
